5. I Remember You
Kaddish (4:33)
Saying the Kaddish denotes the ritual of mourning the loss of a loved one. The Mourners’ Kaddish does not mention death at all, but instead praises God. The people we love never die; they are always alive in our hearts.
I’ve been praying three times a day, since you passed away.
I remember you, remember you, remember you.
Feeling the empty space, I see your smiling face. I remember you, remember you.
Yitgadal ve-yit-ka-dash sh’may rabba, b’alma dee vera chir-ootay.
As long as I live, you will live too, cause you’re a part of me and I’m a part of you.
At the rising of the sun and when the day is done,
I’ll be praising you, your memory will live on. V’eem-roo Amayn
I’ve been praying three times a day, since you passed away.
I remember you, remember you, remember you.
Feeling the empty space, I see your smiling face. I remember you, remember you.
Y’hay sh’may rabba miva-rach l’olam ool-al-may al-maya.
You’d be so proud of me and all that I’ve done,
and what I’ve become with your inspiration.
My link to history, I got an angel watching over me. I remember you.
I’ve been praying three times a day, since you passed away.
I remember you, remember you, remember you.
Feeling the empty space, I see your smiling face. I remember you, remember you.
Yitba-rach, v’yishta-bach, v’yitpa’ar, v’yitro-mom,
v’yitna-say, v’yit-hadar, v’yit-aleh, v’yitha-lal.
Now there’s an empty chair at the table.
All the time we spent together I’m so grateful.
I remember all the things that you said, to keep my dreams and aspirations,
and always to look ahead. I remember you, remember you.
Y’hay sh’lama rabba meen sh’maya, V’cha-yeem alaynu v’al kol Yisrael. V’eem-roo Amayn.
