Lyrics for It Would Have Been Enough – Dayeinu

6. It Would Have Been Enough
Dayeinu (4:18)

This popular song from the Passover seder is over 1000 years old. Dayeinu means “it would have been enough,” and is about being grateful to God for the many gifts bestowed upon us.
Retelling the story of our escape from slavery is a yearly tradition.

It would have been enough if You set us free, led us out of slavery.
It would have been enough to part the sea, You got us there with dry feet.
Wandering for so long You gave us strength to live on.
Even though we had it rough, through all the hard times, it would have been enough.

Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu
Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu

It would have been enough to lead us to the promised land,
to let us to grow oranges in the sand.
You gave us the Holy day of rest, freedom for the oppressed.
It would have been enough, we are blessed. We are so grateful for all You’ve done.
Our Prayers have been answered and a new day has begun.
Feeding us manna, for years as we wander, telling the story again and again.

Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu
Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu Dayeinu

Where do we go from here? To live in Your way, Your holy way, Mashiach is near.
To keep our traditions through generations, finding cures for disease with modern day technologies.

It would have been enough, to live by the Torah.
It would have been enough, dancing the hora.
It would have been enough, the life of a sabra.
It would have been enough, for all of the soldiers.
